Celebration!

On May 31st we had a very small wedding in the Red River Gorge in Kentucky.

We knew we still wanted to celebrate with all of our friends and extended family after the ceremony, so this past weekend we had a "wedding celebration".

And it was quite the celebration!

I'm not going to lie, the week leading up to the party was incredibly stressful, but as soon as the party started we both knew it was totally worth it.

Friends came in from New York City to Texas and we felt beyond blessed to be able to celebrate with them.

It was incredible to feel so much love all in one room.
And who doesn't want to wear their wedding dress again?!

I hope everyone had as much fun as we did!

Our Wedding Day

First of all, Happy National Running Day!

This blog will be back to its boring normal workout self soon, I promise!

Our wedding day began with breakfast at my family's cabin. We always joke that when we get together we are planning the next meal while eating the current one - and if there is one thing we they do almost as well as eat, it's cook!

After breakfast a few of us went for a hike. We wanted to keep it fairly easy since we didn't have a ton of time and didn't want to wear ourselves out completely.

How about climbing a few steps?

Swinging bridges are fun!
There were quite a few more stairs than we expected!
We still had a good time though.

We happened upon this cave and rested for a few minutes to cool off. It was easily 10-15 degrees cooler down in the cave than outside.

My sister and I dress alike often - and not on purpose.

Once we hit Balancing Rock, we decided to turn back around. We were hoping for a little bit of rest time between lunch and going to my hair and make up appointment.

Then it was time to get hitched!

It honestly could not have been a more perfect day.
The weather was gorgeous (pouring rain was just 20 minutes north of us).
Everything went surprisingly smoothly.

My mom and sister helped me get ready and did a little pre wedding photo shoot for us. They captured the prep and the moment when K saw me for the first time.

Why yes, those ARE Liverpool FC socks.
And yes, I surprised him with them a few weeks ago!

We met our photographer on Sky Bridge for photos before the wedding then headed to the overlook for the ceremony.

The ceremony was beautiful - the lighting was amazing as the sun was setting in front of us and streaming through the trees.

And then we became Mr. & Mrs.!
I can't stop looking at the pictures - and we don't even have the photographer's pics yet.
I wish I could live the day over and over. It was amazing.

Sorry for the longest post ever!

2 + 2 = Wedding!

Wednesday a.m.: 3.25 mile run outside

Extra Vitamin C.
Drink lots of fluids.
Attempt to get extra rest.

That is the motto right now in our house. We are hoping it is just allergy/sinus related, but HTB is not feeling so good. And the wedding is only 2 weeks and 2 days away!
This crazy weather is most likely to blame!

We had a lovely shower at HTB's work last night.
We are truly blessed to be surrounded by so many loving, caring people.

It was super warm when I headed to my car this morning and after a quick check of the weather on my phone, I decided to run outside once I got to work (the gym). I typically don't like to run outside in the morning because I don't trust the drivers in the dark. Since I was a little late this morning though, the sun was already coming up, so it wasn't too scary!

I did a nice easy 3.25 mile loop. Very uneventful.

I did wear another new Owl Be Sweatin' headband though!
I'm slightly addicted.

Maybe I should start brushing my hair before pulling it back fro my morning workouts?
Nah, would just take more time.

Happy hump day, everyone! Halfway through the week!

Race Week & Wedding Month!

Tuesday: 3.5 mile run outside, weights
Wednesday a.m.: 3 mile treadmill run

After work Kelly and I enjoyed the beautiful sunshine and 80 degree weather on a 3.5 mile run outside. Since this is race week, we tried not to overdo it, but I insisted on attempting to finish like it was a race, so my last half mile was faster than the rest.
Of course "faster" is all relative...

I couldn't believe how hot it was!
My face was bright red for a looooong time afterwards.

I broke a cardinal rule of marathon running and wore new shoes to work yesterday.

Somehow it looks like I have 2 left feet. Awkward.
After HTB got home from work and devoured my lovely dinner of pork chops, green beans and mushroom risotto, we headed to the gym for some weight training.
Our weight routine has been good, but not stellar lately, so I am very glad we went.

The Flying Pig marathon events are this weekend. Yikes!
I better figure out my game plan.
I will be doing 3 races in 2 days and covering 22 miles!
I hope my legs are ready.

This morning I did an easy 3 miles on the treadmill. There is a fine line between resting my legs and keeping them loose. I might be wearing compression socks to work the rest of the week!

It's finally May - our wedding month! Woohoo!
Tempus fugit!
(It's the only Latin I remember from Jr. High - "time flies")

In Search of Balance

Thursday workout: Weights
Weekend workout: Trying on wedding dresses (seriously, it's a workout), weights
Monday workout: Weights
Tuesday workout: 3 mile treadmill run

As evidenced by the workouts above, when I made one of my goals for 2013 "lift weights consistently", I really should have said "lift weights consistently while STILL running".

I guess balance isn't my thing. I'm more of an all or nothing type.

So this week's goal is to run 3 times and lift 3 times. Doable, right? Let's hope so.

It's a little cold out. So I ran on the treadmill this morning. There is nothing harder than getting out of a toasty warm bed at 4:45 a.m. when you know it is in the single digits outside. Except getting out of said warm bed to run outside. And yes, super tiny up by the moon, it says it feels like -7.
Awesome.

So, yes, I wussed out and ran on the dreadmill.

Over the weekend we had family in town. Lots of fun, lots of shenanigans, lots of wedding talk.

We watched The Words and Pitch Perfect.

I enjoyed The Words, he did not. We both had it figured out, but I still enjoyed the story.

Pitch Perfect - accaawful or accaawesome?
I'm going with awful. I did love Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson - British girl in Bridesmaids). She made the movie. It was entertaining. Just don't expect much.

We also accomplished some things around the house. Preparing for the official merging of households! There is so much to do!

Any suggestions on how to maintain balance with running and weights?
