Spaghetti Squash and Puppy Faces

Wednesday: Toning Intervals at home

What a week this has been!
So much has been going on and I have been absolutely exhausted by it!
Most of it has been fun though, minus that little trip to the ER Sunday night, but at least everyone is OK!

I found this guy at IKEA yesterday and really wanted to take him home with me.

I mean, seriously, that face is precious.

This weather has been giving my sinuses fits and making me so sleepy.
I managed to make dinner even though I didn't feel like it last night.

It was my first attempt at spaghetti squash and it turned out quite well!
Thankfully it is super easy!

I just poked some holes in it and threw it in a baking pan in the oven for an hour at 375.
Once it cooled down a bit I cut it in half then used the fork to make it spaghetti like (after removing the seeds and squishy part).

Next time I will add a lot of veggies, I was just lazy this time.

We planned to hit the gym after a quick dinner, but we were both worn out.
I still made myself do some squat, lunge, push up, and ab intervals though.
I did 3 sets of each and between 20-30 reps of each exercise.
My abs are actually a bit sore this morning!

Not a normal or hard workout, but much better than just laying around watching Breaking Bad which is what I really wanted to do.

And so I don't make Pugalicious too jealous, how about this cuddly face too:

Not Your Average Fitness Class

Thursday: Lunchtime Body Blast class

I was finally able to do my favorite group fitness class at lunch yesterday.
It's a Body Blast class, but the instructor is phenomenal (read: total booty kicker).

We don't do the normal warm up of stepping side to side and swinging your arms and/or legs.
(There is nothing wrong with this type of warm up except that I feel like a total dweeb).
Andrea always has something a little different in store.

Yesterday, we pulled out the spin bikes for our warm up/cardio part of the class.
My legs were burning after just a couple of minutes.
She had us doing jumps and hills right away.

I haven't done a spin class in a long time. I enjoy them, I have just been focusing on running as my cardio.
It was fun to be on the bike again.
And now I really HAVE to get my road bike out again. I'm ashamed to admit how long that has been...

After the spin bike portion, it was time for full body weights.
Dead lift / squat combo
Lunge / overhead press combo
bicep curl / squat combo

I can't remember what else we did, but I was dripping sweat and praying for the class to end.
We finished up with several different planks, pushups and bicycles.

Whew, what a lunch!

And because I feel like I need to add a picture, but of course didn't take one of the class, here's my new favorite of Pugalicious.

Random Wednesday

Tuesday: dog walking
Wednesday a.m.: weights

Happy hump day!

I get to run with my friend who has been off work for 2 weeks for surgery tonight, so I did my weight work out this morning. It was my first one with the higher intensity.
Boy, was it tough!
My arms feel like jell-o.

Last night we wanted to take advantage of the amazing weather (thank you mother nature for dropping us right into summer with 80 degree temps!) so we walked the dogs and did some yard work.

I'm sure the excitement will wear off rather quickly, but I am loving the idea of yard work. Owning a house is fun, right?! I'll let you know how I feel any different in a month or two!

I also made another batch of the 2 ingredient banana cookies last night. They are so delicious. I can't get enough of them! It's hard to believe they are healthy.

And because any post is better with a picture of a Pug...

A snug pug on a rug.

Not really, he's in his bed, but he is pretty stinkin' cute.

Calves and Pugs

Monday: 4 mile treadmill run

The weather has been unpredictable lately.
That's nothing new for Ohio, really.
Can't wait to get to Cali soon!

Kelly and I decided to run on the treadmills instead of outside because it looked like it might downpour at any second. Of course we knew if we stayed inside it wouldn't rain, but if we ran outside it we would get soaked.

So of course, it didn't rain.
I have awesome picture taking skills.
I got a quick/easy 4 miles in and called it a day.
The first mile was tough, but after that I hit a groove and felt pretty good. I could have gone much longer, but I had several errands to run on the way home.

I'm still trying to figure out what is going on with my feet.
Last summer the tops of my feet started getting really tight overnight. I can't walk normally when I first get up in the morning, but after a few minutes they feel fine.

My best guess is that my calves are too tight.
I've been trying to be better about stretching them and massaging them, but my feet still feel the same.

Ugh!

At least it doesn't affect my running.
But it is still weird and annoying.

On another note...

Pugalicious cannot stay out of my bags.
I really don't get it, but it makes me laugh.

Routine & A Giveaway!

Wednesday: weights
Thursday a.m.: 3 mile treadmill run

It was hard to get up so early this morning, but I managed to get myself to the gym with enough time for a quick 3 miles on the dreadmill. I'm glad I did it and now I won't feel so guilty indulging in a 'rita with the girls tonight!

HTB and I have settled into a pretty nice little routine over the last two months.
Some may say routine is boring, but it has helped me get my workouts in, sleep better, eat healthier and feel less stressed.

I'm pretty sure even the dogs are happier now that they have more of a routine also.
They have started playing chase every night before we are trying to go to sleep.
I'm pretty sure this isn't a coincidence that it started right after we stopped letting them sleep in bed with us.
Pugalicious hides under the bed (it's up REALLY high) then eventually ends up on top of my gym bag.

No Uggs this time though.

I think he wanted to sleep there.

He clearly did not want to sleep in any of these:

Yes, three empty beds for two dogs. #spoiledrotten
